A FUNGUS Among Us

Well I finally got the nerve to go to the doctors and get my big toe fixed up. A couple years ago I had stubbed my toe and it had lifted the toenail of its nailbed and hasn't been the same since. Ever since that one time my nail has been subject to whatever organisms wanted to get under that nail and make themselves at home there. So yesterday I had an appointment with the Podiatrist and he said "Lets take it all off!". So He gave me several numbing injections into my big toe and then proceeded to remove the entire nail! AAGGHHHHH! I felt like passing out, not because of the pain, but the scrapping, tugging and pulling that was happening. Needless to say there was a lot of blood and the whole procedure took about 10 minutes for the removal. Here is a picture before and after for all you gore fans out there! So now I have it all bandaged up and who knows how long before it grows back and if the nail will attach itself to the nailbed again. Anyways, just wanted to share my latest horror story with ya all.

Hostage Negotiator In Town

Last night Shane was invited to a get-together at Lydgate Beach Park to show this Hostage Negotiator a good time. Apparently he came in from Delaware with his family to provide training to some police officers here. We ended up cooking out tons of food, drinks and tunes were provided by Officer G. Asuncion and his guitar, accompanied by an 11 year old boy playing his ukulele. We had a lot of fun and I met two female detectives (my age)that came with the instructor. This is the first gathering of police officers I've seen that came in numerous numbers. WHO WAS KEEPING THE ISLAND SAFE?! Anyway, it was a great opportunity for Shane to mingle among his own and show interest in additional training. Just wish the training sign up sheet didn't always favor to the same ol' cops all the time. Like he said, it depends who ass you kiss and you better make it FEEL GOOD!

Good Morning! I just wanted to post some cute smileys I found. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Right now Ori and Kiana are destroying the living room with there toys. Can't wait till school starts up again!

This is our new addition to the family, "Mango" the sun conure. He is so funny and personable. he will actually roll over on his back for a tummy scratch an rub. He follows us wherever we go when he is out of his cage and loves to eat whatever we eat. Can't wait till I get my next parrot. Contemplating between African grey, Cockatoo or Eclectus. If anyone has any knowledge or personal experience in any parrots I would love to hear from you! We also have two lovebirds a black masked and a peach faced mutation, all hand fed babies.

VEGAS......it was fun going on the rides, spending time alone with my boyfriend doing adult things, but gambling just plain sucks! Have never been so bored. It was my first and last trip to Vegas for me. Rather go elsewhere. When and IF you sleep you hear the damn slot machine noises ringing throughout your head. The best parts were drinking, dining and dancing and of course the rides. Disneyworld next year for the two of us for sure!

Here is my boyfriend and my baby....Hoshi! She is about 1 yr now and is a lab/rott. She is quite a character and a BIG baby! She loves to sleep in our bed and gets jelous when we are showing any affection. She's become quite a bird catcher (chickens and doves mainly). If you live on the islands you can apprecaite the fact that she is controlling the chicken population here......i mean it CAN get really out of hand. Turn on any light at night and they all start to crow!

Thsi is my 11 yr old daughter Oriana. She loves making jewlery, build-a-bears and cheerleading. She also love s swimming in our pool, playing with her friends, enjoys girl scouting and has many friends. She is getting ready to take a summer trip to Denver to see her fathers friends there and a her uncles.

Christmas season 2004

Here I am with oriana and my baby girl Kiana (3 yrs). We went on a neighborhood stroll to look at everyones Christmas decorations and had a lot of fun. This time of the season here in Hawaii it gets down to the mid 60's, but coming from Colorado, I can truly say that it does feel colder, a wet kind of cold ad yes you can see your breath on certain mornings!

One day we decided it was too hot and we wanted to go somewhere besides the beach, so we drove up the rode to "Loop Road" where the gand jumped into the river as I watched from above with toddler in tote and dog at side. They had great fun as this great picture shows them with BIG smiles!

The Best Man in the World

I am extremely lucky to have met such a giving an unselfish man. We met in a dance club one night and then went out for our 1st date about 10 days later. We are now on our 2nd year together and he has made such a difference in my life. Without him I would have never ben able to continue nursing school, juggling work and family at the same time, being a single-divorced parent. He comes into the relationship also divorced with three of his own children. A daughter now almost 16 yrs old and two sons, 11 and 7 yrs of age. It has been a lesson in cooperation, flexibility and EXTREME patience for us all. Each of us brings our own dynamcis into the relationship that just seems to keep us all together. Trust me it isn't easy....and the hormones rushing through this home is most of the time INSANE! I love him, and together we keep each other sane.

Nursing demands

This past week at work I have learned that we are losing another three nurses (LPN's) due to continuing education goals. We are so short staffed and everyone's schedules mysteriously changed, ALL because our D.O.N. left for vacation and the "administrator" couldn't figure out how she had it plotted out. So now instead of three night shifts, I now have two evenings and one night shift. There goes my internal clock again. Saturday night was so weird! I brought in a can of Pepsi from home and put it in the fridge in our breakroom and when dinner break came along I went to grab it and it was gone.........poof!! Then I went down to the cafeteria before it closed and got a large coffee and put it at the nurses station and when I returned from administering my evening meds, that too was being consumed, but by a resident. "Obasan! Are you drinking my coffee?" The elderly Japanese lady just knodded her head and grinned as the evidence of coffee spilled from the recesses of her mouth and onto the table and down the front of her gown. AAAGGHHHH! Needless to say I was a little ticked and a lot thirsty.

Ok here's how it goes in a nutshell: My boyfriends ex-wife receives support for their three children from him at a hefty $1400.00/mos approx. It is automatically taken out from each of his paychecks (bi-mos) and if there is any left over it goes automatically to the bank to pay a couple of loan debts. He has no other money for gas, food or bare necessities. I feel for him and I help him out with his bills and try to do mine too. But I can't do it now, beacuse I am not working enough hours at a rate that will make a difference. So here comes a registered letter to him demanding he pay for his son's medical bill, a physical exam for a flag football and for his daugters cheerleading start up expenses approximately $1,000.00, in which she wants him to pay half of. He has no money to do so, was not included in the discussion as to if he could afford to enroll her in the program, nor was given a choice. So I told him NO WAY IN HELL is HE (or myself) going to pay fro the cheer thing, but the football one we would because we wanted t put him in the falg football in the first place. So, it is our own expense. Does anyone hear what I'm saying? Am I right or wrong in this? What and how would you approach this matter. As far as I see it she recievs the child support to support the kids and use that money for supplies, extra curricular ativities and what not. Why should he GIVE her more?! He is dumb founded by the whole thing and refuses to stand up to her. I on the other hand am losing my mind, because we are struggling to survive as, see took away our livelyhood as well and which forces me to carry his weight now. AAAGGGHHHH! I love him to death, feel for his pain and want to fight his fight, but how?Island Nursing

Ok....I'm tired, I need a nap, but I want to update my blog sites....just then I get a call from my employer asking if I can come in this evening early to help cover a floor. I told them I had to get my daughters fed and reday for bed, before I would be able to come down. They said ok and to please be there by 7pm tonight! AAAGGHHHH! I need a nap still and will be off shift at 7:30am tomorrow morning! I should have justs said NO! I feel burnt out being an RN and I just graduated in May! What does that mean? Island Nursing
